Children of Hope Uganda
Children of Hope Uganda is a registered Canadian charity that supports the education of children and youth affected by the 20 year insurgency of Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army in northern Uganda.
COHU built a vocational school (2010) and nursery school (2012) in Barlonyo, site of the LRA massacre of 301 villagers on February 21, 2004. COHU operates 8 school Income Generating Activities to make the project self-sustaining.
COHU has also paid partial school fees for 163 war-affected, and formerly abducted youth……two of whom are now in medical school in Uganda. COHU has also found university sponsorships for 20 young women, including 12 who had been held in LRA captivity for 8 years.
Led by founder, Lorna Pitcher and a group of dedicated volunteers, Children of Hope Uganda relies on sales of Ugandan crafts through its social enterprise and on donations to continue. We encourage you to share this post, learn how you can donate through your insurance policy, and to visit Children of Hope Uganda to join this effort.
