Grayrock Insurance Brokers
Gray Rock Insurance Brokers Ltd. has grown out of an insurance agency founded prior to World War II by Frank Graham. After the war began, Frank left his clients in the hands of another agent, joined the Canadian armed forces and went overseas.
Upon his return he took over the agency again and grew his business on good service and referrals from satisfied clients.
In 1972 Phil Robertson left the Royal Bank and entered the life insurance business. From 1972 to 1978 Phil worked as an individual life agent with London Life, a group and association products sales rep and manager with Union Mutual/Constellation Life. The major account Phil handled was the Ontario Medical Association long term disability insurance program.
In 1978, Phil joined with Frank Graham and changed the name to Graham-Robertson Insurance Agency Limited. From 1978 to 2000, the company grew mainly through acquisition and client retention to become Graham-Robertson Rickards & Paul Insurance Brokers Limited and finally the current name of Gray Rock Insurance Brokers Limited.
John Cox joined the firm in 1994 after beginning his career with Dominion of Canada Insurance Company and H K Insurance Brokers. John completed his CAIB designation in 1999 and became a partner in Gray Rock in 2000.
In 2000 Fred Taylor Insurance Brokers joined Gray Rock and has since been fully acquired.
Also in 2000 Bill Ubbens brought his brokerage, Wm. Ubbens Limited to Gray Rock. Bill operated Wm. Ubbens Limited for over 40 years but joined with Gray Rock to provide his clients with greater choice of insurance companies and products and expanded service. Bill and his wife Wendy retired at the time of the move.
The combined history and experience of the component parts of Gray Rock will assure our clients of above average service and a broader choice of insurance companies and insurance products than most other insurance brokers in Ontario.
